In the beginning of the new millennial, in the year 2000, the world did not end as predicted by Nostradamus. There was no godly destruction of Earth or it's people, but there was a judgement. Humans were judged by unknown powers and there was an Awakening of the Elements among a handful of people across the globe. These select people were assigned an element each: Air, Fire, Earth, Water and Lightning, and granted powers over them.

Human beings were now able to control the elements, but only the element assigned to them. The Power of the Elements is passed down genetically, so the majority of people with this special gift, also known as 'Elementals', have the gene in their family. However, there have also been reports of elements assigned to humans without of no elemental heritage. These random Elementals are known as 'Reachers'. Their powers commonly aren't as strong as the family born Elementals, and so a rivalry of pure Elementals versus the Reachers ensued.

In order to bring peace among all Elementals, a school was built and within this school students from both pure Elemental families and Reachers were welcomed. The school, named Kingston Academy after it's founder, was built in the English country side, away from prying eyes, clear from feuding families, to give the new generations of Elementals a chance to make their own decisions about their kind. It is hoped the younger generation will look past the old ways of their families and find peace and family among all Elementals.
