Biting off the head of the red gummy candy fish she held in her hand, the detective headed down the road, keeping her eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary. Nothing like a little sugary snack as she walked back to her hotel, Swedish Fish were delicious. As a homicide detective she saw brutal scenes many days, especially since she specialized in solving cases involving the supernatural, either in the victim or as the means of death. She had already solved the case she had been sent here to assist on which had involved some insane witchcraft as well as a pyrokinetic demon. Unfortunately Bronwyn was prevented from using her own spellcasting abilities on the job since the United States of America, her home country, was one of the few hunter countries so far. That meant that they went after any and all of those affected by the virus and didn’t care if you didn’t cause harm.
Turning to her left, Bryn headed down a narrow alleyway, the sun gradually sinking beneath the horizon and casting the sky in shades of red and orange. That alleyway met up with a wider one which she thankfully turned down in hopes that she was still walking in the correct direction to eventually arrive back at her hotel. It would be nice to sleep peacefully for a night before she headed back to the busy city of New York or somewhere else on a murder case, which would make her restless due to her nearly obsessive need to solve them. She figured it could have something to do with the fact that she was an erinye, or a fury.
She was passing beneath a fire escape ladder when something splashed down on her shoulder. Whatever it was had been icy cold, halting her in her place. It was odd, there wasn’t really any ice or anything frozen along the buildings and water wasn’t just waiting to splash on her. Peering up, her gaze was frozen as she caught sight of a body hanging upside down from the ladder, its feet caught on a rung keeping the body there. Bryn walked closer and sighed, “Now I’ll have to figure this out too…” She knew that it wasn’t her job to do so. Bronwyn wasn’t bound by any responsibilities but only by her own drive and need to solve those murders she encountered. Eyeing the body she noticed that various stab wounds marred the corpse but yet little blood had dripped out of the wounds. Reaching up she quickly jerked her hand away as she lightly touched the dangling female hand. The victim was female unless she somehow had confused herself to hell. That hadn’t been what had shocked her however but the body was ice cold, and rock hard, frozen. Yet not in a chunk of ice but with a thin layer and the entire body was frozen as ice as well. It was definitely supernatural in origin which only fueled her fire for justice and to discover what had happened.
Stepping back a couple of steps she sighed and thought over what to do. As she stood the sun was setting and not only that but she couldn’t just stand here forever with a body hanging right before her, if someone walked by it would look bad for her. Casting a quick glance around she smiled as no one came into immediate view before she murmured a quick spell which released her amphisbaena from their tattoo form, their dormant form. Her amphisbaena were naturally two supernatural snakes that were spiritually connected to her in a way, they were much more than pets however. Once free the snakes were real, their true form, and twined around her arms much as the lifelike tattoo versions of them had been. The two serpents were decently sized, hooded, emerald green, venomous snakes with minds of their own, although they would react to her emotions as well. Smiling, Bryn glanced at the snakes, lightly rubbing their heads as one then the other brushed over her hands. ”Astraea… Nemesis….” she murmured their names softly. One named for a goddess of justice and the other named for a goddess of revenge and divine retribution.
Closing her eyes briefly, Bryn released her own wings as she let herself go into complete fury form. When she was like this with her amphisbaena released her magic was not only the strongest but she felt right in her skin. Her wings sprouted from her back in their dark charcoal gray – black hued glory, glossy feathers running their lengths. Each apex of each wing extended above her head and the ends hung about a foot off of the ground when folded at her back. Her wingspan was a magnificent fourteen feet in total, each wing measuring in at around seven feet with narrow tips. Simultaneously she had also naturally switched her clothing top to a dark green leather bustier type top with inch wide straps. The top ended just at the the end of her rib cage and left her midriff bare. It wasn’t for any sexual purpose but it had been what she had naturally changed into magically when her wings had first appeared without even thinking about it and now it seemed anytime she called forth her wings her top would change to this. Which was somewhat good since most tops blocked off the bases of her wings a lot more than this one did. Opening her eyes she felt much more at ease as she once again approached the hanging body….
