As a hunter, Trae doesn't have any particularly unique traits such as horns or fangs. Instead, it's nearly impossible to tell him from a normal human. That's what gives a hunter so much of an advantage over the supernatural, and he does his best to maintain said advantage. Traeven has short, dark brown hair accompanied by blue eyes. Both appearance and personality wise, Traeven is not a very approachable fellow. He's not the tallest man in the world, but he certainly can cast a long shadow. He's rather filled out from his work in the military and hunting, so he's far from lanky.
Though he's generally rather clean cut, Traeven doesn't give a damn when it comes to facial hair. He's not interested in a beard, mind you, but a little stubble isn't going to hurt anyone. Any rugged laziness aside, he's the type to wear button up shirts and generally remain well maintained. He has a rather impressive assortment of unimpressive scars. He has no idea how he got most of them, but in both of his previous lines of work, it's hard not to pick up a few along the way.
•• STRENGTHS ;; •• Strategy • Weaponry • Nearly undisputed knowledge of the supernatural • Sharpshooter • Sheer intelligence • Driven • General emotional control (with the exclusion of temper) • He's not the slightest bit impulsive in battle. A risk taker, yes, but he won't do things just because it seems like a good idea at the time (essentially, he thinks before he acts) ••
•• WEAKNESSES ;; •• Beyond the life of a hunter and a soldier, he doesn't know much else • Cockiness • Doesn't play well with others • Generally a bit of an asshole • Insensitive • His temper • It's hard for Traeven to resist a good challenge or competition • He enjoys to take the dangerous way about things • In simple terms, he could be called a bit of a 'playboy', shall we say ••
•• LIKES ;; •• Messing with gullible people • Pushing friends off of heights • Steak • Waving steak in front of pissed off weres • Not losing limbs to pissed off, hungry weres • One night stands • Brunettes • His childhood best friend, Dustan • Pushing Dustan off of stuff • Kicking ass, taking names • Hunting the supernatural • Kicking stupid people • Rainy weather • Challenges • His family • Studying the battle strategies of legendary battles through history • Forests • Studying ancient legends ••
•• DISLIKES ;;•• Smelly creatures • Stupid people • The desert • Being outsmarted • Losing • Being at a disadvantage in any way • People trying to tell him what to do • Taking orders • People who don't listen to orders • Smart asses ••
•• AMBITIONS ;; •• Make his family proud • Be feared and known by supernaturals • Perhaps one day, settle down with a family of his own (don't tell!) • Live to the eradication of the supernatural •
•• FEARS ;; •• Suffering the same fate as his father • Losing his mother and grandfather • Being trapped in a chaotic circle his entire life • Becoming useless • Failure ••
•• SECRETS ;; •• He's ticklish on his right knee • Despite how much he loves Hunting and what he does, Trae would give it all up for a chance at a normal life • More than anything in the world, Traeven would have loved to have met his father. The mention of Veron is a soft spot for him and is better left avoided • He's actually a very talented artist, though he never talks about it ••
•• PERSONALITY ;;
Intelligence / Knowledge_
Traeven's problem is that, though he is an extremely intelligent and strategic fellow, he doesn't know anything but hunting and war. He knows the life he's had to live in amazing detail, but that's it. If he were ever to be thrown out into a normal life, he would have absolutely no idea what to do with himself. He would figure it out in time, but adaptation would hardly come easily. In his current state, Traeven would not be able to function in a comfortable, peaceful environment after knowing a world full of fighting quite literally his entire life. Trae's knowledge of war history, battle strategy, weaponry, the supernatural, and general intelligence such as reading and writing is almost phenomenal. Anyone in a conversation with him would be able to tell that he knows what he's talking about, even if he doesn't have the normal life experience to back it up.
Emotional Strength_
More than anything, Traeven has been taught to control his emotions. From a young age, he had it drilled into him that such things are weakness and better left avoided. Still, he's not perfect. Though he could watch anyone he loves die and not flinch even the slightest bit should he have the dire need to, Traeven has a bit of a tendency to lose his temper. Objects such as doors, windows and walls very frequently feel the wrath of a rather nasty blow from his fist more often than Traeven would probably like to admit. He is, however, absolutely brilliant at keeping his emotions hidden from others. So good, in fact, that it's almost impossible to control his control. It might get frustrating to others who are telling him something absolutely horrible only to think he doesn't care the slightest bit when really, he doesn't even notice that he's not reacting like he thinks he is.
Social Skills_
Though Traeven de Ryette can have a golden tongue when he needs to, he won't deny that he's an absolute asshole. He is well aware and has absolutely no intention of attempting to adjust his behavior. He's sarcastic, cocky, has a terrible attitude, stubborn, refuses to open up to others and he's down right impossible to deal with. Even still, he has a fantastic sense of humor and will find a way to laugh about practically anything in good spirits. He's also completely insensitive and will find a way to tease people about the worst things at the wrong times, having a rather apathetic attitude toward pissing people off. Really, with his social skills, it's a wonder he has friends at all. Still, he's serious when he needs to be and can be very supportive to the right people. In a conversation with him, should certain subjects be avoided and should he be attempting to win someone's affection... well, that's an entirely different matter.
Acting / Lying Skills_
Traeven's acting/lying skills are somewhat... different. When it comes to hunting and deception in battle, he's absolutely phenomenal. He can perform nearly flawlessly and can mess with the human mind like it's putty. However, Trae has this horrible problem where, should he ever have a need to lie to people (specifically people he knows/is close to), he's just awful. It's almost laughable - he'll come up with a story that makes no sense whatsoever and is completely unrealistic. Not to mention that, whatever he had to lie about, was probably extremely obvious to begin with and he would still attempt to cover it up with an atrocious fabrication.
Bravery_
Even the ever so proud Traeven will admit that he's had his moments of cowardice. He'll openly admit that there were hopeless times in battle where he arranged to have troops sent in instead of going in, himself. Still, he's cocky enough where he won't admit that he's fled from a battle one time. He knew he couldn't win, he ran. He was young at the time, but it's one of his biggest shames that even haunts him many years later. In his current years, he's known as the a fearless hunter - an invincible front - but even he has had his moments of human weakness. No one is immune, however much he likes to think that he is. Now, things are different. He will charge in to battle with nearly no fear for his own life or the lives of others.

•• HISTORY ;;
Traeven de Ryette was born to Veron and Mel de Ryette on the storming day of March 22nd in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was a healthy enough child in a healthy enough family. His father was a Scottish officer in the United States military, having finished with active duty and on reserves. Veron was often away to check in, but for the most part, he stayed with his family. However, he was called back in to active duty to take a final tour into a war zone. Four months in, Veron went missing, along with the rest of his platoon and was never heard from again. No sign of the missing soldiers was ever found, and they were all pronounced dead after another two months of searching. Traeven was three years old at the time. All he knew was that his father never came home.
In order to properly understand Traeven's history, one needs to understand the history of the de Ryette family. They were one of the leading families in the Great Scottish Witch Hunt of 1597, and many others. They've always been very prominent in the witch hunting scene. Whenever there were threats of the supernatural, the de Ryette family was always the group handing out the torches and pitch forks. They killed many witches, whether real or not, and kept the tradition going. The family has always been wrapped up in these 'made up's stories of the supernatural, and 'hunting' training has gone down through the family. Zevrin de Ryette, Veron's father, taught Traeven from a very early age how to shoot a crossbow. Mel, Traeven's mother, was horrified the first few times. Still, it was how he was brought up. There were no supernatural, and of course, Traeven laughed at the very thought.
Still, crazy grandpa Zevrin insisted that they were being foolish for tossing the thought of the supernatural aside. He believed that they'd be back, as they had once before in the time of the witches. Even trying to tell him that the 'witches' were probably just a bunch of innocent women (and sometimes men) victimized by a crowd of superstitious idiots didn't dissuade him. "If they weren't a bunch of 'superstitious loonies'," Zevrin would say, "The world would be overrun by witches and the like! You'd be sorry then, lad." There was no convincing him, so eventually, Traeven just gave up and accepted whatever his grandfather would teach him. It was easy to say that the guy was crazy, but he really did know how to fight.
His early childhood was surrounded by Zevrin's crazy lessons. Sometimes, it would be fighting. Others, it would be how do hunt creatures that didn't even exist. Apparently, he said learning how to hunt them was very important, since humans had no way of keeping up with those 'fancy abilities'. By the time Traeven was thirteen, he knew more about vampires than he did about women. This frustrated him in his school years, when he really just wanted to settle down and have a normal life. He was careful to keep his home life and school life very separate. He didn't want to be the nutcase who thought he could hunt vampires and werewolves, after all. Luckily for Traeven, there was never an incident.
When Traeven turned twenty, he travelled back to his mother's home - New York. He hated it there, to be perfectly honest. It was so different from the countrysides of Scotland that he'd come so accustomed to, but a change of scenery was exactly why he left home. In order to follow in his father's footsteps, Traeven went to college, got a degree, and ended up going into officer's training in the marines. Despite how he really gave Zevrin crap for training him all that crazy fantasy nonsense, the life of combat training really did prepare him for the military. He excelled beyond expectations and his strategic prowess got him a well respected job as a field strategist. He was constantly deployed, helping figure out how infiltrations would go down.
It was a depressing job, but it gave him a salary and eventually, it got him to the place his father had gone missing so many years ago. Of course, there was no luck. It was a hopeless attempt, but a son couldn't help but try. Eventually, his skill both physically, as a sharpshooter, and a strategist got him attention. He was in the military for many years, hoping to retire off of it and get veteran's benefits. However, it seemed that fate had another plan in store for Traeven de Ryette.
In 2012, the meteors hit.
Traeven was deployed at the time, but with the sudden need for military back on the home front, troops were recalled. At first, the military had no idea how to handle the outbreak. There was mass panic within the higher ups that no one in the enlisted forces would ever want to see. As it turned out, grandpa Zevrin had the last laugh. The supernaturals were real. The very same day, Traeven got the lovely 'I told you so' call, with no sympathy to any tragedy that may have occurred. Trae did his best to hold people off, but Zevrin was right. Even with all of his 'hunter' training, it was impossible to keep on par with people who were more powerful than humans. Early in the infection, the US struggled to find a way to keep up with the rapidly growing infected population. For months, they tested various chemicals to try to bring out a human's full capabilities. Time after time, it failed. In June of 2012, they tried testing on human subjects, as they finally felt that they got it right. Again, the failures piled in. That was, of course, until mid-July when Traeven was pulled in to the experiment.
Much to the surprise of the scientists, Traeven lived. The effects of the injection became permanent. The first successful Hunter was finally brought onto the playing field. For months, he was put through test after test. Later, when more successful Hunters were brought in on the project, he worked with them. After all, who better to hunt the supernatural than someone who had been, for some ridiculous reason, doing it his whole life? He taught many Hunters how to actually kill these abominations to the world, and the Hunters slowly became a threat to the infected.
At the current time, Traeven mostly works independently. He does occasionally team up with the Government and other Hunters, but he prefers to handle things alone or clan-style hunting with other members of his family. It doesn't mean he's opposed to the whole idea of working with other people; he just prefers not to and, as he was released from his military contract following the experiment to become a Government agent, he has no technical obligation to the nation to do so.
